Monuments & museums

The entire World Heritage ensemble extends over 183 hectares and includes approximately 1000 heritage buildings. The densely developed old town dates mainly from the 12th to 14th centuries. Large parts of this medieval town have therefore been preserved in a exceptionally coherent way. The World Heritage area corresponds to the extent of the city at approximately the year 1320.
