RTG's sustainable path

Regensburg Tourismus GmbH is the official tourism organization for the destination of Regensburg. We want to set a consistently good example. That's why we strive for sustainability, right from the start.

And this is what sustainability means for us:

  • The equal consideration of economy, ecology, and social issues, based on the responsible, economical, and careful use of natural resources.
  • We operate for the benefit of all RTG stakeholders as much as possible
  • The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Regensburg is our focus.

Numerous sustainable activities have been launched:

Ausblick 2024

  • Regensburg ist als nachhaltige Destination TourCert-auditiert

  • Das Weiterbildungsprojekt der Azubis für Mitarbeitende wird fortgesetzt.

  • Die RTG wird Green Globe re-zertifiziert

  • Anhand des Handbuchs für Nachhaltigkeit für die Destination Regensburg werden Maßnhamen priorisiert und erste umgesetzt.

  • Es wird eine Wall of Sustainability für Regensburg und die Destination erstellt.

  • Es gibt Netzwerktreffen und Exkursionen für nachhaltige Partner:innen.

  • Die RTG / Regensburg beteiligt sich am "Blauen Engel für Veranstaltungen".

  • Das Marketingfrühstück der RTG im April und Oktober finden zu nachhaltigen Themen statt. 

  • Die RTG beteiligt sich an mehreren Feel Good Kampagnen der DZT.

2023

  • Regensburg ist als nachhaltige Destination TourCert-auditiert
  • Regensburg wird als nachhaltige Destination beworben, die Zertifikate TourCert und Reisen für alle spielen dabei eine Rolle.
  • Die Nachhaltigkeitswebsite www.regensburg-nachhaltig.de wird zusätzlich in englischer Sprache übersetzt.
  • Es werden verstärkt nachhaltige Partner:innen für die Nachhaltigkeitsoffensive gesucht.
  • Der Bereich Nachhaltigkeit wird auf der Website tourismuskonzept-regensburg.de überarbeitet.
  • Das Marketingfrühstück im April steht ganz im zeichen der Nachhaltigkeit, die nachhaltigen Partner.Innen der TourCert-Zertifizierung erhalten offiziell den Titel Ben Förtsch vom Hotel Luise hält einen Motiviationsvortrag.
  • Das Weiterbildungsprojekt der Azubis für Mitarbeitende wird fortgesetzt.
  • Die RTG wird Green Globe re-zertifiziert.
  • Die nachhaltige Beschaffung der RTG wird verbessert und die Kennzahlen überarbeitet.
  • NetzwerkTreffen und Site Inspections werden für die Partner:innen der Nachhaltigkeitsoffensive durchgeführt.
  • Die RTG integriert die Regensburger Nachhaltigkeitsoffensive stärker in die bayerische und nationale Strategie, u.a. wird ein Nachhaltigkeitsworkshop mit Realizing Porgress durchgeführt.
  • Ein Handbuch für Nachhaltigkeit für die Destination Regensburg wurde erstellt. Die bisherigen Maßnahmen fließen als Best Practice in die Bayern Matrix ein, ein Maßnahmenkatalog für zukünftige Projekte ist enthalten. 
  • Die RTG beteiligt sich an mehreren Feel Good Kampagnen der DZT.

2022

  • Regensburg is TourCert-audited and promoted as a sustainable destination.
  • RTG's carbon footprint is created using OHA!
  • The "Regensburg Dialogue on the Future" is continued
  • The trainees' continuing education project for employees is continued.
  • The RTG team workshop is conducted with a focus on sustainability.
  • RTG becomes Green Globe re-certified.
  • RTG's sustainable procurement is improved and key performance indicators revised.
  • Network meetings and site inspections are held for partners of the sustainability initiative.
  • RTG once again participates in the GWÖ audit.
  • RTG receives the "Travel for All" and "Sustainable Destination" certifications.
  • The marketing campaign "Regensburg|R|Leben" is launched.
  • The website regensburg-nachhaltig.de receives an update and adjusts the criteria to be even more precise.

2021

  • RTG receives the certificate as an audited company of GWÖ.
  • RTG's sustainability indicators and sustainable procurement guidelines are revised.
  • Sustainable destination certification from TourCert is the focus in 2021. Together with partners, the destination's future sustainability orientation is worked out. Partner training is offered as part of the certification process.
  • RTG participates in Sustainability Week in Regensburg.
  • The "Continuing Education Passport" trainee project is continued, on the topic of sustainability, among other things, and sustainable leverage is specifically sought at RTG.
  • An after-work discussion series on sustainability is initiated.
  • RTG becomes part of the OHA! initiative and determines its carbon footprint.

2020

  • The new website www.regensburg-nachhaltig.degoes live. Guests can get information and partners can participate and promote their company free of charge.
  • Green Globe certification is audited for the third year at 96%.
  • In September, the launch event for sustainable destination certification with TourCert takes place. More information: www.tourismuskonzept-regensburg.de
  • The development of a sustainable city tour with Transition e.V. is supported by RTG.
  • RTG's sustainability activities are made visible at RTG locations. At the marinaforum Regensburg this takes the form of a sustainability wall, in the Prinz-Ludwig-Höfe (administration/marketing) and in the tourist information centers, in the form of a video created by the trainees.
  • The "Continuing Education Passport" trainee project for RTG employees focuses on the topic of sustainability in 2020. Digital videos inform employees, the ecological footprint can be determined, and at the same time suggestions for improved sustainability are sought.
  • • RTG prepares a report on the common good economy (GWÖ).

2019

  • RTG is Green Globe re-certified with a very good result.
  • The BREEAM certification marinaforum Regensburg is carried out.
  • RTG receives the Bavarian Tourism Award Special Sustainability Prize for its "Holistic Sustainability Concept of the MICE Destination of Regensburg" from ADAC.

2018

  • RTG is Green Globe certified with a very good rating of 93%.
  • The festival Marina Furiosa for the opening of the marinaforum Regensburg is the first sustainable festival in Regensburg.
  • The CO2 value of RTG business trips is matched with a € value, which is donated to a Regensburg social project.
  • At the marinaforum Regensburg, the sustainable measures in construction and operation are explained with a Power Point presentation and QR codes.
  • Several customer events at the marinaforum Regensburg use the Green Score Card.

2017

  • The percentage of fairly produced souvenirs is 95%.
  • More than 60% of the sustainability targets set for 2018 have been achieved.
  • Continued partner assessment with sustainability survey.
  • Training of partners, Jürgen May presentation, 2bedifferent, at the marketing breakfast "Sustainability – from voluntary to obligatory".
  • Town map "at a glance" in simple language.
  • The entire setup at the marinaforum Regensburg is designed with sustainability in mind.

2016

  • The percentage of fairly produced souvenirs is 89%.
  • Development of the sustainability surveys. The partner database is supplemented by a sustainability survey of all relevant RTG partners.
  • Key figures and target values in terms of sustainability are defined.
  • The sustainability concept at events is complemented by a give-back option through donations to social projects.
  • At the team workshop, all employees are informed about and trained in the area of sustainable events.
  • A dedicated RTG health management system is installed.
  • Training of another sustainability consultant to the events sector.

2015

  • The percentage of fairly produced souvenirs is 82%.
  • A presentation at the greenmeetings conference describes the "Regensburg Path to Sustainability in the Event Sector".
  • RTG's first sustainable events are the "10-year RTG partner event" and the "Degginger Lounge" Christmas party.
  • Participation took place in the second training seminar "Sustainability consultant to the event sector, sustainability 2.0".
  • All RTG employees are surveyed on sustainability.
  • RTG gets a safety officer.
  • RTG moves into the Degginger, with great emphasis on sustainable decor (carpet, LED lighting, etc.).
  • All of RTG's own events are conducted in a sustainable manner (Green Score Card).

2014

  • The percentage of fairly produced souvenirs is now 69%.
  • The Green Score Card and Green Note with certificate are introduced.
  • Inquiries from students reach RTG regarding sustainability volunteering.
  • First progress report "fairpflichtet" attracts attention in the event sector.
  • The first inclusive city tours in simple language take place in Regensburg.

2013

  • The share of fairly produced souvenirs is 65 percent.
  • The RTG conference motto is expanded from "tradition goes future" to "tradition goes GREEN future".
  • A two-day sustainability workshop is held. Topics include the development of the Regensburg model of sustainability in the event sector and the development of a set of criteria.
  • Awareness is raised among the partners of RTG; a partner survey in the field of event management on the topic of sustainability takes place on the basis of a sustainability survey.
  • In PR/communications, sustainable topics are mentioned more and more often.
  • Numerous sustainability factors for future users are incorporated by RTG in the planning and construction of the marinaforum Regensburg.
  • Strong emphasis is placed on regional procurement (chairs, tableware, Salzstadel, etc.).

2012

  • In the area of textile sales, 100 percent fairly produced goods are sold.
  • In event management, the focus is on sustainable engagement:
    - Visit sustainability consultant seminar in the event sector.
    - Marketing breakfast with speaker on the topic sustainability
  • The Deutsche Bahn event ticket is offered for events of the customers of RTG.
  • An as-is analysis of the "sustainable status of the RTG" is prepared.
  • RTG signs up to "fairpflichtet", the voluntary self-commitment code for sustainability of the German event sector.
  • From the very beginning, marinaforum Regensburg is designed for sustainability. Creation of a concept for the town council (sustainability as an essential element)
  • An inclusiveness officer is appointed at RTG (freelance).
  • All new acquisitions are checked for sustainability.
  • 100 percent of marketing giveaways are sustainable.

2011

  • Guided tours in sign language are provided.
  • Inclusiveness and fair trade are becoming important issues at RTG.
  • Office supplies are ordered exclusively from the sustainable and environmentally friendly supplier "memo.de".

2010

  • Expansion of EFQM model means more sustainability

2009

  • Introduction of citizens' survey

2008

  • Introduction of KuRü, guest surveys

2007

  • Sustainability finds its way into the values of RTG.
  • Awareness is raised among employees.
  • Introduction of "paperless office" (DMS), filing of all company documents online only.

2005

  • RTG works with EFQM
  • All advertising materials are printed on 100 percent Blauer Engel paper.

The sustainable path always remains a path without end. There is no arriving, because there's always something to improve!
